Mid-Term Evaluation Report of the PHSSA programme

The overall objective of the Mid-Term Review (MTR) was to assess the Partnership for Health Systems Strengthening in Africa (PHSSA) programme strategy and design, implementation, progress towards results and sustainability. Specifically, the review documents the appropriateness of programme design, implementation approaches, achievements, lessons learned, best practices and challenges. The PHSSA is a five-year capacity building programme that focuses on Leadership, Management and Governance (LMG) for health systems strengthening. Amref Health Africa implements the programme on behalf of the Africa Health Leadership and Management Network (AHLMN) in collaboration with the Kenya Ministry of Health and with support from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). PHSSA 1 of the programme was implemented from September 2011 to March 2016.

 Report of the 2nd AHLMN General Assembly Meeting Held at AMREF International Training Centre, Nairobi – Kenya

3rd December 2013
The 2nd AHLMN General Assembly meeting occurred through the generous financial support of Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) and United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through Management Sciences for Health (MSH). Its main agenda was to receive the Network‟s progress report. In attendance were member organizations and individual members from 14 countries.

 The AHLMN Constitution

This is the interim constitution of the network containing nineteen (19) articles that govern the AHLMN. It was developed during the meeting of the founding members in December 2008 and has been written in both English and French.

The AHLMN Business Plan 2009 - 2011

This is the first Business Plan of the network that was developed during the Foundation Meeting of the AHLMN held at the AMREF International Training Centre in Nairobi on 3-5 December 2008.

 Report: Foundation Meeting of the AHLMN Network (3 - 5 December 2008, Nairobi - Kenya):

This report summarises activities of the Foundation Meeting of the AHLMN, a workshop that brought together a diverse group of institutional leaders from recognised training institutions, Government agencies and the Civil Society Organizations from across Africa. The workshop created and ratified the network's constitution, business plan and 12-month workplan.

Report: Workshop on Promoting Governance and Accountability for improved service delivery in the Eastern Africa Health Sector (21 - 25 March 2011, Nairobi - Kenya):

This report summarises activities of the learning event “Building Capacities for Promoting Governance and Accountability in the East Africa Region”, a workshop that brought together a diverse group of policy makers and senior program managers from the Government, Civil Society
Organizations actively engaged in improving health services for the poor and members of the Africa Health Leadership and Management Network (AHLMN), an important regional think tank aiming to build capacity for leadership and management in support of national health systems in Africa. The workshop created much needed awareness amongst the participants from Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda about challenges of poor governance and accountability in the delivery of health services.
